Teaninich 10 Years Old 2008 (Authentic Collection)

Bottled by Cadenhead's, this Teaninich, a 10 year old Highland malt from 2008 and bottled at 57.2%. Only 276 bottles were released. Teaninich was founded in 1817 by a Napoleonic veteran in Easter Ross, north of Inverness; it uses a mash filter found nowhere else in Scotch. It stands near Dalmore and Glenmorangie in the Cromarty Firth country.

The spirit was made from a mash filter wort for a clean, grassy spirit, for a clean, oily make of real freshness. It was matured in refill ex-Bourbon oak, lending honey and vanilla. Still young, the malt is grassy and oily with a citrus lift. Most Teaninich is filled into refill ex-Bourbon, letting the make show through. A long fermentation of around 75 hours builds the fresh, fruity notes. Filled spirit is tankered away to mature in Diageo's central warehouses. The name comes from the Gaelic for house on the hill, a nod to the old estate. By the 1970s Teaninich was already one of the largest distilleries in Scotland.

At a natural 57.2% it is full and oily. Vanilla and a light cream from the barrel runs under a clean, green fruitiness. A green fruit and a gentle oak give it depth. The finish is waxy, green and lively. This is a fresh, oily Highland single malt.
