Single malt Teaninich, selected and bottled by Mossburn - Distillers & Blenders matured to 10 year old from 2007, drawn from cask Batch 29.0107.4 and bottled at 59.1%. Teaninich was established in 1817 in Easter Ross, north of Inverness; it is one of Diageo's largest distilleries. The mash filter gives an ultra clear wort, the source of its fragrant, green tea grassiness.

The spirit was made from a mash filter wort for a clean, grassy spirit, for a clean, oily make of real freshness. Ex-Bourbon casks held the spirit, soft oak that lets the grass lead. At this age the spirit is fresh and green, cut grass and citrus to the fore. A patient maturation suits the light, grassy Teaninich character. The Munro family ran the distillery through two generations before selling. The Cromarty Firth nearby is one of few UK waters home to bottlenose dolphins. A long fermentation of around 75 hours builds the fresh, fruity notes.

At cask strength 59.1% it is muscular yet green. Vanilla and a light cream from the barrel runs under a clean, green fruitiness. Soft orchard fruit and grass sit behind the sweetness. A grassy, gently spiced finish lingers. This is a fresh, oily Highland single malt.
