That Boutique-y Rum Company bottles honest single casks without additives, and this is a twenty-nine-year Uitvlugt with clear Port Mourant character, the heavy double wooden pot still, here drawn from a single ex-bourbon barrel. Rather than chase full proof it sits at a gentle 44%, trading concentration for approachability.

The nose shows young wood, spice, cherry and red fruits, and that cherry runs right through the palate alongside woodiness, allspice and burnt sugar before a dry, spicy finish with dark chocolate. It is unmistakably old Demerara in flavour, the cherry-woody Port Mourant signature, but in a softer, more diluted package: the lower strength smooths the edges while thinning some of the depth, and a faint bitterness shows late. This suits drinkers who enjoy aged Demeraras like Port Mourant but prefer a relaxed, sippable proof over the heat of cask strength.
