Taste Deluxe Heyselnut Rum Liqueur

Taste Deluxe Heyselnut Rum Liqueur is a flavoured, sweetened rum liqueur built around nuts rather than the island's pot-still character. It sits firmly in dessert territory and makes no claim on the dry, structured side of Jamaican rum.

Despite the hazelnut billing, marzipan dominates both nose and palate, the almond-paste sweetness pushing ahead of the nut it is named for. Hazelnut is detectable underneath, but the overall impression is sweet and confectionary, with a fairly noticeable alcoholic edge that suggests the base is doing little to soften things. At 40% it is a soft, sugary sipper to serve chilled or pour over ice cream rather than a spirit to consider seriously. Taken honestly as a sweet nut liqueur it is what it is, but anyone expecting rum character will find little of it here.
