Description
Tante Mias Apfelstrudel is a German cream liqueur built around the flavour of the Austrian apple strudel classic. Bottled at 17%, it combines the sweet taste of baked apples, cinnamon, vanilla and a touch of cream into a rounded creamy pour, made from fruit extracts and real cream. As a true cream liqueur it carries a dairy emulsion, so it belongs with the chilled dessert styles rather than the aged spirits, finite in life once opened.
The nose is sweet, fruity and spicy with apple, vanilla, cinnamon and fine cream. The palate is creamy, smooth and harmonious with sweet apple, cinnamon spice and a hint of vanilla, the finish long, mild and velvety with a warming apple strudel note. It is unusually flexible for a cream liqueur, good chilled on its own or on ice yet also opening up served warm as a winter drink. Behind the bar it adds body, sweetness and a baked fruit and spice character, ideal in coffee specialities, dessert cocktails and winter cups, or stirred through dessert recipes. Serve chilled or gently warmed, and refrigerate after opening.
