An agricole-style white rum from Tahiti under the Tamure label, made from fresh cane juice and bottled at a brisk 56%, floral and fruity with lime and pineapple over a mineral, faintly saline and iodic edge.
Description
Tamure is a cane-juice rum from French Polynesia, made from fresh-pressed sugar-cane juice in the agricole manner, though Tahiti sits outside the agricole appellations so it is best called agricole-style. It arrives as an unaged white at a brisk 56%, an unusual entry from a region rarely seen on rum shelves.
The profile is distinctive: the nose is floral, fruity and buttery with lime and pineapple, while the palate turns mineral and saline with an iodic, almost briny edge over pineapple, before an earthy, vegetal and faintly metallic finish. There is even a brioche-and-apricot warmth that sets it apart from typical Caribbean blancs. The higher strength is a feature, giving the cane character real snap, and it makes a fun, off-the-map sipper or a characterful base for a Ti' Punch or daiquiri.
