Description
A distillery bottling of Tamnavulin, drawn from cask Batch 00227 and bottled at 40%. Tamnavulin was built in 1966 on the banks of the River Livet, and it is now owned by the Emperador group. It is one of the few distilleries that sits right on the River Livet.
It was drawn off stills whose purifiers lift only the lightest vapours, for a delicate, floral spirit. It rested in ex-Bourbon oak, the wood adding a light honeyed sweetness. Carrying no age, it leans on apple, pear and a gentle vanilla. The cool Speyside climate gives a slow, even maturation over the years. Built in the 1960s boom, its industrial buildings sit amid picturesque country. A value priced single malt, it has found a wide audience since its 2016 relaunch. Tamnavulin stands on the site of a 16th century carding mill, its old water wheel preserved on the label. It is one of the few distilleries to sit right on the River Livet.
Bottled at 40%, it is rounded. A gentle vanilla from the wood, with pear, hay and a floral lift. The texture is light and smooth, the fruit lifted by honey. A long, honeyed finish carries a fruity lift. This is the mill on the hill malt of Glen Livet.
