An official Tamnavulin single malt, drawn from cask Batch 000164 and bottled at 40%. Tamnavulin was established in 1966 at Tomnavoulin, deep in Glen Livet; it was relaunched as a single malt in 2016. The modern range is known for its cask finishes, the motto single malt, double flavour.

Distilled in copper stills fitted with purifiers, for a light spirit, giving the soft, grassy spirit at its heart. A red wine cask lent berry fruit and a soft spice. No age is given, but the fresh fruit marks it as classic Tamnavulin. A patient maturation suits the light, fruity Tamnavulin character. Water is drawn from the Easterton Spring, filtered through limestone. The distillery is now owned by the Philippine Emperador group through Whyte and Mackay. Its modern range leans on cask finishes, the motto single malt, double flavour.

At 40% it is supple and fruity. The red wine cask lends berry fruit and a soft spice, and the refill oak lending honey and vanilla runs under honey, apple and a gentle spice. It is light and fruity, the fruit and oak well matched. Honey and orchard fruit see out the finish. This is a fruity Speyside single malt of real charm.
