A distillery bottling of Tamnavulin, a 10 year old and bottled at 40%. Tamnavulin was first built in 1966 at Tomnavoulin, deep in Glen Livet, and it is one of the few distilleries on the River Livet. Water comes from the Easterton Spring, filtered through the surrounding limestone.

Distilled in copper stills fitted with purifiers, for a light spirit, giving the soft, grassy spirit at its heart. An ex-Bourbon barrel shaped it, gentle American oak beneath the fruit. At this age the spirit is fresh and fruity, the apple and pear bright. Years in oak round the spirit, the fruit and honey deepening with age. Purifiers on the spirit stills keep only the lightest vapours, for a delicate spirit. Water is drawn from the Easterton Spring, filtered through limestone. The distillery is now owned by the Philippine Emperador group through Whyte and Mackay. Its modern range leans on cask finishes, the motto single malt, double flavour.

At an easy 40% it is gentle. The refill oak lending honey and vanilla, with apple, pear and a soft honey. The mouthfeel is soft, the fruit carried on a honeyed body. A long, honeyed finish carries a fruity lift. This is a clean, fruity malt from the Livet glen.
