This Tamdhu, an official release and bottled at 40%. Established in 1897 at Knockando on the River Spey, Tamdhu is a sherry led Speyside malt. The old Knockando railway station serves as the distillery's visitor centre.

It was worked through onion stills for a rich Speyside spirit, then filled into sherry seasoned casks, the heart of the Tamdhu style. Ex-Bourbon casks held the spirit, soft oak that lets the fruit lead. Carrying no age, it leans on dried fruit, nuts and a warm spice. Dunnage and racked warehousing on site gives a slow maturation by the Spey. Mothballed in 2010, the distillery was revived by Ian Macleod and relaunched in 2013. Sherry casks, both Spanish and American oak, define the modern Tamdhu. The name Tamdhu is Gaelic for little dark hill, and the architect was Charles Doig. The River Spey runs past the distillery on its way to the Moray coast. Ian Macleod runs Tamdhu alongside Glengoyne and Rosebank. Water is drawn from the Tamdhu Spring on the Speyside site.

Bottled at 40%, it is rounded. Ex-Bourbon oak gives vanilla, honey and orchard fruit. A baked apple and a warm ginger lift it. It finishes rich, fruity and warming. This is the sherry cask malt of Knockando.
