Single malt Tamdhu, an independent Jack Wiebers Whisky World bottling matured to 20 year old from 1988 and bottled at 47.9%. A release of 266 bottles. Founded in 1897 in Knockando, in the heart of Speyside, Tamdhu is a sherry led Speyside malt. The old Knockando railway station serves as the distillery's visitor centre.

The spirit was run through the distillery's onion shaped stills, and laid down in Oloroso casks for its sherried depth. A refill American oak cask held it, keeping the malt to the fore. Past a decade the fruit deepens into fig, raisin, nuts and a warm ginger spice. The full bodied make carries the sherry cask well across long maturation. The name Tamdhu is Gaelic for little dark hill, and the architect was Charles Doig. The River Spey runs past the distillery on its way to the Moray coast. Ian Macleod runs Tamdhu alongside Glengoyne and Rosebank. Water is drawn from the Tamdhu Spring on the Speyside site.

At a natural 47.9% it is full and rich. Honeyed vanilla and apple come through from the oak. Soft orchard fruit and raisin sit behind the spice. A dried fruit and ginger finish lingers long. This is the sherry cask malt of Knockando.
