Description

An official Talisker single malt, drawn from cask Batch 01 and bottled at 48%. Just 7500 bottles were filled. Set by Loch Harport, beneath the Cuillin hills, Talisker has distilled since 1830. Talisker is made by the sea, its character drawn from the wild Skye coast.

It was drawn off stills whose looped lyne arms and worm tubs build a rich, oily spirit, from peated malt, for a smoky, coastal spirit with a chilli kick. Maturation came in ex-Bourbon wood, vanilla beneath the maritime smoke. No age is given, but the peppery smoke marks it as classic Talisker. Coastal warehousing gives the malt its mineral, sea spray lift. Founded by the MacAskill brothers in 1830, it is Skye's oldest distillery. The worm tubs build the full, oily body that carries the smoke and pepper. For most of its life Talisker stood alone on Skye, until Torabhaig opened in 2017. Carbost is a tiny port on the wild west coast of Skye.

At cask strength 48% it is muscular. A smoky, briny depth with a chilli catch sit over a gentle vanilla under the smoke. It is rich and smoky, the brine and oak well matched. A long, warming, peppery finish lingers. This is the wild maritime malt of Skye.
