Description

This official Talisker single malt, a 27 year old release and bottled at 58%. Just 2000 bottles were filled. Founded in 1830 by Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill on the storm battered coast of Skye, Talisker is the maritime malt of Skye. For nearly two centuries it was the only working distillery on Skye, until Torabhaig opened in 2017.

Distilled on Hawk Hill water through worm tub condensers, building the bold maritime style Talisker is loved for. A refill American oak cask held it, keeping the peppery character to the fore. At this age it is mellow and waxy, the smoke folded into a rich, maritime body. The rich, oily make carries cask flavour while holding its peppery edge. Carbost is a tiny port on the wild west coast of Skye. The peat is medium rather than heavy, leaving the smoke balanced and coastal. Talisker was for nearly two centuries the only working distillery on the Isle of Skye.

At cask strength 58% it is muscular. Sea spray, smoke and cracked pepper, with a touch of vanilla and oak sweetness. Beneath the smoke run brine, citrus and a peppery oil. It finishes smoky, salty and warming. This is the peppery maritime malt of Skye.
