Description
Taketsuru 35 Years Old is Nikka's most extended blended malt age statement, combining malt whisky from Yoichi in Hokkaido and Miyagikyo in Miyagi Prefecture over 35 years of wood maturation. This 2008 Japanese domestic edition in the 750ml format at 43% sits in the middle of the 35 year range's release history.
Three and a half decades in Ex-Bourbon oak produce a profile of considerable depth: aged honey, dark dried fruit, waxy leather and a sustained malt richness mark the evolution from the fresher notes of earlier Taketsuru expressions. Yoichi's firmer, slightly maritime character and Miyagikyo's softer orchard fruitiness converge after such an extended maturation into a cohesive and deeply structured blend.
