Description
Taketsuru 35 Years Old is one of Nikka's most aged blended malt releases, marrying malt whisky from Yoichi in Hokkaido and Miyagikyo in Miyagi Prefecture over 35 years. This 2005 release for the Japanese domestic market was presented in the 700ml format at 43%, a notable edition within the range's long production history.
Extended maturation in Ex-Bourbon oak shapes the character profoundly: the vanilla and fruit of younger Taketsuru expressions deepen into aged honey, concentrated dried fruit and a complex malt richness with a waxy, leather-edged texture. Yoichi's robustness and Miyagikyo's more fragrant orchard character are both subsumed into a unified, deeply aged whole that speaks to the patience of the 35 year maturation.
