Description
Takamaka Pti Lakaz is part of Takamaka’s St André Series and is produced at Trois Frères Distillery on Mahé in the Seychelles. Bottled at 45.1% ABV, it’s a composed blend built from multiple rum styles and age components designed to add distinct layers of fruit, spice, oak structure and texture.
The blend includes a pot distilled cane juice element matured across four casks, including ex Port barrels. This contributes red fruit notes, darker sweetness, and a rounder mid palate. A molasses based component distilled on pot and column stills is aged for three years in ex bourbon casks, bringing vanilla driven oak compounds, soft caramel tones, and a firmer backbone. The final layer is an 8 year old molasses rum from Foursquare in Barbados, adding deeper molasses character, extra weight on the palate, and a longer, drier finish.
In the glass, Pti Lakaz typically shows dried fruit with apricot, warming spice with anise and clove leanings, and a cocoa like bitterness at the back palate that keeps the sweetness in check. It drinks well neat at 45.1%, and its structure also suits stirred serves where you want fruit, spice and cask influence to stay clear through dilution.
