Description
Tagaro works at Masseria Tagaro in Puglia, an estate that combines the region's traditional grapes with modern winery technology and close control of every stage. Vermentino is a Mediterranean white grape valued for its citrus drive and herbal freshness, well suited to the warm coastal south. The intense light and heat of Puglia ripen the fruit fully, while breezes off the sea preserve acidity and aromatic detail. This bottling spends four months in oak barrel, a short measured oak ageing that adds a light creamy texture and a touch of spice through slow oxygen exchange, while keeping the citrus character intact. The colour is a bright straw yellow. The nose opens on lemon and citrus, backed by white peach and pear with a soft vanilla note from the barrel. The palate is medium bodied and rounded, the fresh fruit given weight by the oak and carried by clean acidity into a long finish. At 12 percent it stays balanced and food friendly. Serve chilled at 9 to 11 degrees.
