Description
Tagaro is a family estate near Fasano in Puglia, the long stretch of southern Italy that runs between olive groves, dry stone walls and the sea. Fiano is a southern Italian white grape known for holding freshness and aromatic detail even in a warm climate. The light here is intense and the summers are hot, but proximity to the Adriatic brings cooling breezes that preserve acidity and keep the fruit lively. The wine is aged for three months on its fine lees, a short élevage that adds a little texture and roundness while keeping the emphasis on primary fruit and freshness. The colour is straw yellow with greenish glints. The nose is fresh and persistent, leading with white peach, pear and citrus, lifted by white flowers. The palate is dry and easygoing, the stone fruit carried by clean acidity into a crisp finish, with a faint saline note from the coastal setting. At 12 percent it is light and unforced. Serve chilled at 8 to 10 degrees.
