T.D.L Angostura Reserva

This is a distillery bottling from Trinidad Distillers Limited under the Angostura name, the living producer behind Trinidad's light and fragrant house style. Angostura Reserva is a young white rum, aged three years in ex-bourbon oak and then filtered to a pale, light spirit, bottled at a modest 37.5%.

The column-distilled molasses base is clean and youthful, with vanilla and coconut over a sweet, lightly chemical, grassy character that shows the rum's youth. The palate is soft and spritzy, finishing on coconut and a faintly bitter note. This is built as a mixing rum rather than a sipper, performing best in cola or a Cuba Libre where its light, sweetish profile sits comfortably. Honest about what it is, it is an everyday Trinidad white aimed at cocktails rather than contemplation, the entry point to the Angostura range.
