T.D.L Angostura 1824

Angostura 1824 is a distillery bottling from TDL in Trinidad, the rum arm of the Angostura group. It comes from the island's signature light, column still tradition, working strictly from Trinidadian molasses to give clean, fragrant, smooth spirit aimed at easy drinking.

Aged 12 years in ex-bourbon oak and bottled at 40%, it is lightly sweetened, which rounds out a profile of caramel, honey, vanilla and warm baking spice, with cinnamon on the nose and a touch of smoke and the brand's signature bitter, mentholated edge through the finish. The sweetness is gentle rather than dessert like, and the wood stays soft. It makes an honest, approachable sipper, equally happy neat or lengthened with cola, and a fair introduction to the Trinidad style for those moving on from sweeter Spanish influenced rums.
