Sybille Kuntz farms old Riesling vines biodynamically on the blue slate of the Mosel, and this dry bottling ages on its lees for texture. It is taut and savoury, with lemon, green apple and a wet stone minerality.

Description
Weingut Sybille Kuntz works organically and biodynamically in the Mosel, where Riesling has long set the regional benchmark. This dry Qualitätswein comes from old vines rooted in the region's blue Devonian slate, a heat retaining soil that ripens the fruit on steep riverside slopes while the cool northern climate and wide day to night temperature swing preserve the grape's natural acidity. The wine is fermented dry and rested on its fine lees, which softens the mid palate and adds a subtle savoury depth without masking the fruit. The colour is pale green gold. The nose leads with lemon, green apple and white peach, lifted by chamomile and a distinct slate minerality that reads almost saline. On the palate it is lean and precise, the ripe orchard fruit framed by firm acidity and a stony, low alcohol finish that stays long and dry. A touch of honey rounds the edges without adding weight. Serve well chilled at around 9 to 10 degrees in a white wine glass.

Additional information
Pour it with steamed mussels, grilled prawns or a plate of oysters, where the salinity and citrus act like a squeeze of lemon. The dry, high acid style also cuts through roast pork and works with a mild tikka or tandoori dish.
