Stroh 60

Stroh 60 is the Austrian Inlander style spirit that has fuelled alpine apres ski for generations, made by the long established Stroh house. Rather than a Caribbean sipping rum, it is a high strength spiced rum rooted in central European tradition, flavoured and bottled at a formidable 60% that demands respect.

The profile is intense and unsubtle, with caramel, molasses and herbal spice fighting through a hot, alcoholic, faintly petrol like core. Aroma turns funky and fruity at the edges, but the dominant impression is sheer power and cooked sugar. This is honestly not a rum for neat contemplation, and most who reach for it use it to spike hot punch, set a dessert alight or lace winter baking, where its herbal sweetness and overproof strength do exactly what they are meant to.
