Description
A Strathisla single malt, selected and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail, a 30 year old release and bottled at 43%. Strathisla was established in 1786 as the Milltown distillery in the Speyside town of Keith; it is the home of Chivas Regal. Strathisla is the fruity heart of Chivas Regal, owned by Chivas Brothers since 1950.
Distilled in short copper pot stills on Broomhill Spring water, giving the honeyed, full bodied spirit at its heart. It was matured in refill ex-Bourbon oak, lending honey and vanilla. Long ageing brings a deep dried fruit character and a mellow, polished oak. The full bodied new make carries cask character well across long maturation. Strathisla is the oldest continuously working distillery in the Scottish Highlands, founded in 1786. The distillery stands among gardens by the rushing River Isla. The malt is the fruity heart of the Chivas Regal blend, owned by Chivas Brothers since 1950.
At 43% it is clean and fruity. The refill oak lending honey and vanilla, with pear, honey and a buttery malt. The texture is rich and creamy, the fruit lifted by honey. Dried fruit and honey see out a long finish. This is a rich, honeyed Speyside single malt.
