Gordon & MacPhail bottled this Strathisla single malt, a 15 year old release and bottled at 57%. Set in the old town of Keith on Speyside, Strathisla has distilled since 1786. The single malt is prized for its honeyed, fruity Speyside character.

The spirit was made in small copper onion stills for a full bodied spirit, for a rich, fruity make of real depth. Ex-Bourbon casks held the spirit, soft oak that lets the fruit lead. Around two decades the malt gains a fuller honey and a dried fruit weight. Refill oak lets the fruity distillery character lead, honey over orchard fruit. The malt is the fruity heart of the Chivas Regal blend, owned by Chivas Brothers since 1950. Water comes from the Broomhill Spring, the distillery set on the River Isla at Keith. Scarce as an official bottling, Strathisla was long bottled mainly by Gordon and MacPhail. The distillery has stood by the Isla since the reign of George III.

At its natural 57% it is rich and fruity. Vanilla and a creamy note from the barrel runs under honey, apple and a soft spice. It is rich and deep, the fruit and oak well matched. A warming, fruity finish lingers. This is an honeyed, fruity Speyside single malt.
