Single malt Strathisla, an independent Gordon & MacPhail bottling matured to 15 year old from 1982 and bottled at 40%. Strathisla, opened in 1786 by the Isla in Keith, Banffshire, is the home of Chivas Regal. Long scarce as an official bottling, Strathisla was for decades bottled mainly by Gordon and MacPhail.

Distilled on soft Isla valley water in traditional pot stills, building the classic Strathisla style. A refill American oak cask held it, keeping the fruity character to the fore. Mid age brings a deeper honey and a riper orchard fruit. The unpeated make lets the wood and the fruit speak without smoke. Scarce as an official bottling, Strathisla was long bottled mainly by Gordon and MacPhail. The distillery has stood by the Isla since the reign of George III. Short copper pot stills give the rich, full bodied make the distillery is known for. Keith is one of Speyside's old whisky towns, north of the Cairngorms.

At 40% it is soft, fruity and creamy. Apple, almond and a warm spice meet honeyed oak sweetness underneath. Soft orchard fruit and almond sit behind the sweetness. A fruity, gently spiced finish lingers long. This is Strathisla's classic honeyed Speyside style.
