Description
Hart Brothers bottled this Strathisla single malt, a 10 year old from 2010 and bottled at 46%. Set in the Speyside town of Keith, Strathisla has distilled since 1786. The single malt is prized for its honeyed, fruity Speyside character.
Distilled in short copper pot stills on Broomhill Spring water, giving the honeyed, full bodied spirit at its heart. It rested in ex-Bourbon oak, the wood adding a light honeyed sweetness. At this age the spirit is fresh and fruity, the pear and honey bright. A patient maturation suits the rich, fruity Strathisla character. Short copper pot stills give the rich, full bodied make the distillery is known for. Keith is one of Speyside's old whisky towns, north of the Cairngorms. The distillery is a centrepiece of the Malt Whisky Trail and the home of Chivas. Gordon and MacPhail have released Strathisla vintages reaching back to the 1930s and 1950s.
At an approachable 46% it is rich and balanced. The refill oak lending honey and vanilla runs under honey, apple and a soft spice. It is rich and deep, the fruit and oak well matched. A warming, fruity finish lingers. This is an honeyed, fruity Speyside single malt.
