Description
Strathenry is the name InchDairnie gives the unpeated single malt it trades to independent bottlers and blenders, drawn from the Fife distillery Ian Palmer opened in 2015. The Whisky Barrel bottled this 2016 vintage at 4 years old for its The Grand Tour Voyager 2 range. This single cask, number TWB1017, yielded 218 bottles, released for the Netherlands.
InchDairnie was built in 2015 by Ian Palmer to chase flavour through unusual equipment, milling its cereals on a hammer mill and mashing on a Meura filter rather than a traditional tun. Matured in ex-Bourbon casks.
Bottled at its natural cask strength of 60.5%, without dilution, the ex-Bourbon wood gives vanillin for vanilla and oak lactones for coconut, with maltol for a light toffee sweetness. The spirit is clean and youthful, citrus and cereal sitting under the wood.
