A Strathearn distillery release and bottled at 50%. Founded in 2013, Strathearn is among the smallest distilleries in Scotland, set in a Perthshire farm steading. It was the independent bottler Douglas Laing's first ever owned distillery.

It was drawn off a pair of tiny pot stills, hand worked in the old steading, for a bold, fruity make from tiny stills. A small sherry cask drove a quick, rich dried fruit character. Carrying no age, it leans on vivid fruit and active cask character. Active small wood drives a generous oak character over the vibrant distillate. It was the independent bottler Douglas Laing's first ever owned distillery. Strathearn was a forerunner of the wave of craft distilleries now opening across Scotland. The tiny, active casks give a young spirit real depth in just a few years. Everything is hand worked in a single room of the old Perthshire steading.

At cask strength 50% it is muscular. The Oloroso brings dried fruit and the ex-Bourbon vanilla, over a fruity, oily spirit. It is lively and rich, the cask and spirit well matched. The finish is deep, spiced and rich. This is a hand crafted Perthshire single malt of real character.
