3006 Whisky (3W) bottled this Strathclyde single grain, aged 28 year old from 1994, drawn from cask 456551 and bottled at 50.9%. The outturn was 202 bottles. Established in 1927 in Glasgow, on the Clyde, Strathclyde is Glasgow's only grain distillery. Its grain whisky goes into blends such as Long John, Ballantine's and Chivas Regal.

It was drawn off continuous Coffey stills from a wheat mash, for a delicate spirit that leans on the cask for flavour. Ex-Bourbon casks held the spirit, soft oak that drives the grain's sweetness. At this age it is rich and waxy, the sweet grain folded into a buttery, oily body. The cool Lowland climate gives a slow, even maturation over many years. Its grain whisky has long fed blends like Long John, Ballantine's and Chivas Regal. Twin Coffey stills run on wheat, the water drawn from Loch Katrine. The malt distillery Kinclaith lived inside its walls from 1957 until 1975.

Bottled at a cask strength 50.9%, it is rich. The ex-Bourbon gives butterscotch, coconut and cream. The texture is oily and buttery, the sweetness coating. The finish runs buttery, soft and warm. This is Strathclyde's sweet, oily single grain.
