A distillery bottling of Longrow, a 9 year old release from 2015, drawn from cask Rotation 4 and bottled at 56.4%. Springbank is a Campbeltown distillery distilling since 1828, a family distillery that malts and bottles every drop on site. Campbeltown was its own protected whisky region long before the revival.

It was distilled twice from barley floor malted and peated hard, and slowly worm tub cooled. A sherry butt held it, the wood lending raisin and walnut. At a youthful age the make is lively, salty and full of character. The slow loss of the angel's share concentrates the oily, complex core over time. Few distilleries keep so much of the old craft alive under one roof. Campbeltown was once the whisky capital of the world, with more than thirty distilleries at its peak. Today just three distilleries survive in the old Kintyre whisky town. The maritime warehouses by the sea lend the malt its briny, oily depth.

At a natural 56.4% it is full and oily. Dried fruit, fig and walnut meets a coastal peat smoke with a briny depth. It is rich and layered, the fruit and salt well matched. The finish is long, waxy and briny. This is Springbank's heavily peated Longrow.
