An official Longrow single malt matured to 16 year old from 2006, drawn from cask Rotation 604 and bottled at 56.9%. Springbank has distilled in Campbeltown since 1828, one of only three distilleries left in Campbeltown. Concerto barley is malted on the floors and kilned in the distillery's own kiln.

It was made by double distillation of heavily peated Campbeltown malt, then cooled slowly in worm tubs. A sherry cask wrapped the oily spirit in dried fruit and a nutty depth. Mid age brings a fuller fruit and a deeper coastal complexity. The oily, robust make carries cask flavour while holding its own character. The sea loch at the foot of the town shapes the coastal character of the malt. Demand far outstrips the small output, and bottles are keenly chased. Springbank, Longrow and Hazelburn each show a different face of the one distillery. The open larch washbacks are a rare survival in modern Scotch.

At a hearty 56.9% it carries real weight. Dried fruit and a walnut richness meets a tarry, maritime smoke. The texture is rich and oily, the salt threaded through. The finish runs deep, briny and warm. This is Springbank's heavily peated Longrow.
