This is a Springbank single malt, chosen and bottled by Edition Spirits, a 30 year old Campbeltown malt from 1990, drawn from cask HL 18317 and bottled at 44.1%. The outturn was 103 bottles. The Springbank distillery, established in 1828, is a family distillery that malts and bottles every drop on site. The whole process, malting included, is carried out by hand on the one site.

The make was given Springbank's unusual two and a half times distillation, and slowly worm tub cooled. A refill American oak cask held it, keeping the distillery character to the fore. At three decades and more it is rich and oily, tropical fruit, beeswax and salt in a deep, old malt. The slow loss of the angel's share concentrates the oily, complex core over time. The spirit is filled to cask and matured within the distillery walls. Few distilleries keep so much of the old craft alive under one roof.

At a natural 44.1% it is full and oily. A vanilla and toffee sweetness meets an oily, maritime character with light peat. It is rich and layered, the fruit and salt well matched. A long finish smoulders on salt and oil. This is the flagship malt of old Campbeltown.
