Springbank 30 Year Old sits at the upper end of the distillery’s age statement range and has only become more consistently released in recent years, with annual editions appearing from around 2022 after decades of otherwise sporadic availability. This reflects Springbank’s long term approach to stock management, where older whiskies are bottled only when suitable casks are ready rather than to meet a fixed release schedule.

The 2025 edition was bottled at 46% ABV with natural colour and no chill filtration. It is drawn from a vatting of 85% ex bourbon casks and 15% ex sherry casks, a balance that favours clarity and structure over overt oak influence. The bourbon casks provide brightness and shape, while the sherry component adds depth and restrained spice. The release is limited to 1,900 bottles.

Springbank’s production style, including partial peat, floor malting and its distinctive 2.5 times distillation, produces a spirit with weight and texture from the outset. After 30 years in cask, those qualities translate into layered fruit, mature oak and a subtle maritime edge rather than excessive wood influence.

On the nose, richer fruit notes such as peach and tangerine sit alongside honeyed sweetness and polished oak. The palate shows vibrant citrus and tropical fruit supported by creamy malt, gentle spice and a restrained coastal influence. The finish is long and composed, with tart fruit, soft sweetness and lingering oak.
