Springbank 25 Year Old 2023 Release

Springbank 25 Year Old represents one of the most mature age statements released by the distillery. The first notable 25 year old Springbank appeared in 1998 as part of the distillery’s Millennium Series. Since then, the 25 year old has been released sporadically, only when suitable long matured stock is available, rather than on a yearly schedule.

This 2023 release was bottled on 27 November 2023 at 46.0% ABV, presented without chill filtration or added colouring, and limited to 1,400 bottles. The whisky has matured in a carefully balanced combination of 65% sherry casks and 35% bourbon casks, a composition chosen to provide depth and structure without overwhelming the underlying spirit.

On the nose, dried fruit, orchard fruit and polished oak lead, supported by gentle spice and subtle coastal notes. The palate is composed and layered, showing dried fruit, orange peel and soft spice alongside cedar wood, vanilla and restrained salinity. The finish is long and steady, with lingering oak warmth, dried fruit and a faint maritime edge.

Springbank 25 Year Old is shaped by time rather than production targets. Its sporadic release pattern reflects the distillery’s traditional approach to long term maturation and stock management, making each edition distinct and defined by the casks available rather than a fixed recipe.
