Spirits of Old Man Rum Project Two Spiced Orange

Project Two Spiced Orange comes from Oldman Spirits, built on a Caribbean molasses base carrying a 12 year age and matured in ex-bourbon oak before flavouring, bottled at a gentle 40 percent. It is a flavoured rum first and foremost, leaning hard into a single, clear idea.

Orange is unmistakably the star: zest and candied orange peel run from nose to finish, joined by a broader sweet fruitiness and a cinnamon-and-pepper spice lift. The base is sweet and liqueur-like, so this drinks more like a flavoured treat than a dry, structured rum, which it makes no attempt to hide. It works nicely as a gentle after-dinner pour, alongside dessert, or stirred into a cocktail where its bright orange character can lead, while drinkers after a classic dry rum should look elsewhere.
