Description
A distillery bottling from the Speyside Distillery matured to 10 year old from 2007, drawn from cask 12 and bottled at 55.7%. Only 300 bottles were released. The Speyside Distillery, painstakingly built by hand before its first spirit in 1990 at Drumguish by the River Tromie, is the source of the SPEY malts. Its two small pot stills, among the smallest in Scotland, sit with the whole production under one roof.
Distilled in two of the smallest pot stills in Scotland under a single roof, giving the delicate, floral spirit at its heart. Ex-Sherry wood added a dried fruit richness to the make. Mid age brings a deeper honey and a riper fruit note. Years in oak round the spirit, the honey and orchard fruit deepening with age. The distillery played the fictional Lagganmore in the BBC series Monarch of the Glen.
At a hearty 55.7% it carries real weight. The Oloroso brings dried fruit, fig and a nutty depth, and vanilla and a creamy note from the barrel runs under honey, apple and a soft spice. It is fragrant and rounded, the fruit and oak well matched. The finish is rounded, honeyed and soft. This is a clean, fragrant Speyside single malt.
