Description
A Speyside Distillery single malt, selected and bottled by PerfectDram, a 13 year old from 2011, drawn from cask 800933 and bottled at 54.8%. Only 221 bottles were released. Raised single handed by a drystone mason over some twenty years on a former mill site by the River Tromie, the Speyside Distillery is one of Scotland's smallest. Water comes from the River Tromie, drawn through the old mill lade that once turned the waterwheel.
It was drawn off short stills coaxed by hand towards a delicate make, for a clean, honeyed spirit of real finesse. An ex-Bourbon barrel shaped it, gentle American oak beneath the fruit. Past a decade the fruit deepens into honey, soft spice and a fuller body. A small, hands on operation keeps the spirit close to its maker's intent. Set in the Cairngorm foothills, it counts among Scotland's prettiest distilleries. Harvey's whisky heritage runs back to 1770 and the founding of Bruichladdich.
At a full 54.8% it is intense yet fruity. The refill oak lending honey and vanilla, with pear, honey and a fragrant lift. The texture is light and rounded, the fruit lifted by honey. The finish runs fresh, soft and fragrant. This is the hand built malt of Drumguish.
