Description
This is a Speyside Distillery single malt, chosen and bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company, a 6 year old Speyside malt, drawn from cask Batch 3 and bottled at 49.3%. A release of 1277 bottles. The Speyside Distillery was built by hand on a former barley mill site at Tromie Mills, the most southerly Speyside distillery; it gave the screen distillery Lagganmore in Monarch of the Glen. It is the most southerly of the Speyside distilleries, nearest of all to the source of the Spey.
Distilled on River Tromie water in a tiny pair of pot stills, building the gentle Speyside style it is loved for. Ex-Bourbon casks held the spirit, soft oak that lets the fruit lead. Younger here, it keeps a clean, floral freshness over light honey. The slow loss of the angel's share concentrates the honeyed, fruity core over time. The site was a working barley mill from the 1700s until 1965. A long fermentation builds the fruity esters that mark the house style.
At its natural 49.3% it is concentrated. A light, fruity sweetness meet soft vanilla and honey from the cask. Beneath it run apple, honey and a soft spice. Apple, honey and oak draw out the close. This is a light, fruity Speyside single malt.
