An official Speyburn single malt, aged 37 year old from 1975, drawn from cask 3413 and bottled at 55.4%. Just 320 bottles were filled. Opened in 1897 by John Hopkin and Company in the Glen of Rothes on Speyside, Speyburn is a classic Speyside single malt. Traditional worm tub condensers are still used, giving a rounded, fragrant make.

Distilled in classic Speyside onion stills and condensed in traditional worm tubs, giving the fragrant, rounded spirit at its heart. A sherry butt held it, the wood lending raisin and walnut. At nearly half a century it is rich and waxy, candied fruit, honey and old oak over a fragrant base. A patient maturation suits the clean, fruity Speyburn character. Hopkins also owned Tobermory on Mull when he built Speyburn in 1897. The cool Speyside glen gives a slow, even maturation in dunnage warehouses.

At a natural 55.4% it is full and fruity. The Oloroso brings dried fruit, fig and a nutty depth, and the refill oak lending honey and vanilla runs under a clean, honeyed fruitiness. A dried fruit and a gentle oak spice give it depth. The finish runs fresh, soft and fragrant. This is a fruity Speysider from Rothes.
