Bottled by Douglas Laing, this Speyburn matured to 11 year old and bottled at 46%. A release of 393 bottles. Set in a wooded glen on the edge of Rothes, Speyburn has distilled since 1897. Keen to date the first fillings to Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, the men ran the first spirit in a 1897 snowstorm.

It was worked through worm tubs that lend a fuller, rounder body, for the fresh, fruity Speyside make Speyburn is known for. It was matured in refill ex-Bourbon oak, lending honey and vanilla. At a youthful age the orchard fruit is lively and the malt fragrant. The unpeated spirit lets the wood and the fruit speak without smoke. Bradan Orach, the distillery's youngest core malt, is Gaelic for golden salmon. Speyburn sits in a wooded glen on the edge of Rothes, one of Speyside's prettiest distilleries. Charles Doig, who designed it, invented the pagoda roof now seen across Scotch distilleries.

Reduced to 46%, it is mellow. Green apple and a gentle spice sit alongside a quiet vanilla from the refill oak. Soft orchard fruit and vanilla sit behind the sweetness. It finishes clean, fresh and fruity. This is Speyburn's bright, fragrant Speyside style.
