Description
A distillery bottling from the Speyside Distillery, aged 10 year old and bottled at 46%. A release of 3000 bottles. The Speyside Distillery was painstakingly built by hand before its first spirit in 1990 at Drumguish by the River Tromie, and its entire production sits under a single roof. It stood in for the fictional Lagganmore in the BBC series Monarch of the Glen.
Distilled in two of the smallest pot stills in Scotland under a single roof, giving the delicate, floral spirit at its heart. An ex-Bourbon barrel shaped it, gentle American oak beneath the fruit. By this age the light spirit rounds into heather honey and orchard fruit. Years in oak round the spirit, the honey and orchard fruit deepening with age. Short stills and slow, hands on distillation coax a light, fruity spirit. The site was a working barley mill from the 1700s until 1965. A long fermentation builds the fruity esters that mark the house style.
At an easy 46% it is gentle. Vanilla and a creamy note from the barrel runs under a clean, honeyed fruitiness. A dried fruit and a gentle oak spice give it depth. A long, honeyed finish carries a fruity lift. This is a delicate Speysider from the upper Spey.
