South Pacific Rumclub Private Selection Ed. 33 FSDP 2009

Rumclub Private Selection edition thirty three is a Spirit of Rum bottling of a 2009 South Pacific cask from Fiji, aged just over thirteen years. It is full proof Fiji at its drier, more austere end, with glue, fruit, ester and lemon peel announcing the island's signature funk on the nose.

Matured in ex bourbon wood and bottled cask strength at 60.4% and unsweetened, it shows woody tropical fruit and spice on the palate with a citrusy acidity, then a spicy, vegetal, faintly bitter finish carrying light smoke and workshop glue notes. The strength is high and benefits from a little water and patience, which coax out fruity, almost yogurt like nuances under the funk. This is a rum for drinkers who already enjoy high ester Jamaican or earlier Fiji vintages and want a drier, smokier full proof take with genuine intensity and good value.
