Simon's Rumclub Private Selection Ed. 48 2013 is a single cask rum distilled at the Simon's Feinbrennerei in Germany, bottled at cask strength 52.3% by Spirit of Rum for the Rumclub Private Selection. Distilled in 2013 and aged around 11 years in ex bourbon, it is a rare chance to taste a German rum distillate and lands as something genuinely off the beaten track.

The profile is spicy and fruity in an unusual way. The nose shows wood, cinnamon, spice and a soft chamomile note, the palate turns to grape, spice, wood and pepper, and the finish brings apple, cherry and citrus over gentle oak. It drinks semi dry with the alcohol well integrated for the strength, and the apple and grape twist gives it a character distinct from typical Caribbean rum.
