Silver Seal T.D.L Rum is Art Collection 1991

Silver Seal, the Italian bottler from Modena prized by collectors, drew this from a single cask of Trinidad Distillers Limited under its Rum is Art collection, a 1991 vintage matured twenty four years. TDL distils light and high on the column still, and even at this age the rum keeps the clean, fragrant Trinidad character rather than turning heavy.

Matured in ex-bourbon oak and bottled at cask strength, its signature is a distinctive, lifted mint that runs through both nose and palate, framed by light wood, gentle roasted notes and soft caramel, with a touch of banana and leather adding depth. The alcohol is noticeable but the rum stays very drinkable. At 50% this is an elegant, menthol-tinged older Trinidadian, refined rather than powerful, the kind of clean column-still expression that rewards slow attention.
