A twenty-seven-year Enmore single cask from Silver Seal off the wooden Coffey still at 50.3%, rich and balanced with berries, liquorice and cinnamon over toffee, coffee and layered wood, finishing intensely on coffee, nougat and spice.
Description
Silver Seal's Pink Label is a collector-respected single cask of Enmore at twenty-seven years, drawn from the wooden Coffey still, the last of its kind in the world. Bottled at cask strength, 50.3%, from ex-bourbon, it shows the more elegant, layered face of old Demerara rather than the heaviest pot still weight.
The nose carries from a distance, berries, woodiness, liquorice and cinnamon over a heavy fruit-and-polish core, while the palate is smooth and layered with toffee, coffee and a balanced, darker woody-spicy side. The finish leans intensely toward coffee, with nougat, fruit and spice. Decades of tropical ageing have built real depth here while keeping the spirit composed and integrated for its strength. This is a rich, rounded old Enmore for experienced palates, the kind of long-aged Guyanese single cask that rewards an unhurried glass.
