Silver Seal Beenleigh Australian Rum 2007

Silver Seal, the collector respected Italian house from Modena, bottled this fifteen year old Beenleigh from a 2007 distillation. Drawn from one of Australia's oldest distilleries, it is a single cask released at a formidable 65.2 percent in the unsweetened full proof style the bottler is known for, a bold and oily sipper for seasoned palates.

Matured in ex bourbon, the high strength and long ageing give serious weight and texture. The nose shows roasted notes, barrel, oak and spice, the palate turns woody and roasted with sugarcane and stone fruit, and the finish stays spicy, woody, dry and roasted, holding pear, peach and apricot over smoke and herbs. The oil and intensity reward slow sipping and a little water. With more oil, smoke and stone fruit than a typical bourbon cask single rum, it suits drinkers who like Beenleigh and high proof single casks with real presence.
