Shizuoka 4 Years Old 2019 is a single cask cask strength single malt from Gaiaflow's Shizuoka distillery in Shizuoka prefecture, drawn from an Ex-Bourbon cask, distilled in 2019 and bottled in 2023 as a limited event release. The 2019 vintage marks Shizuoka's fourth production year, with the distillery by then having developed a settled production rhythm and a clearer sense of its house character.
At 50.5%, the Ex-Bourbon maturation has contributed vanilla, fresh apple and light cereal over four years, with the new make's orchard fruit and floral notes still very present. The cedar washbacks used at Gaiaflow's Shizuoka site add a characteristic aromatic thread that distinguishes the distillery's output from other young Japanese single malts. An event bottling that gives a reliable reading of the 2019 production year.
