Shizuoka 4 Years Old 2017 is a single cask cask strength single malt from Gaiaflow's Shizuoka distillery in Shizuoka prefecture, drawn from an Ex-Bourbon cask, distilled in 2017 and bottled in 2021 as a limited event release. At 51.6%, it sits at the more accessible end of the distillery's cask strength single cask range, making it a relatively approachable entry point into the 2017 production vintage.
The Ex-Bourbon maturation over four years gives vanilla, fresh apple and a light cereal sweetness, all qualities that characterise the Shizuoka house style in its younger expressions. The distillery's cedar washbacks contribute a faint aromatic signature, and the clean, precise distillation that Gaiaflow has become known for ensures the spirit has definition without harshness.
