Shizuoka 4 Years Old 2017 is a cask strength single cask single malt from Gaiaflow's Shizuoka distillery in Shizuoka prefecture, drawn from an Ex-Bourbon cask, distilled in 2017 and bottled in 2021 for the Japanese domestic market. The distillery opened in 2016 and built its reputation on transparent, high-integrity releases that put individual cask character at the centre of the conversation.
At 62.9%, this Ex-Bourbon single cask is lively and full-voiced, with fresh citrus, vanilla and cereal from the American oak framing the distillery's characteristic orchard-fruit new make. The cedar washbacks, part of the Shizuoka production setup from the beginning, add a gentle aromatic thread that elevates the spirit beyond a simple bourbon-cask profile. A document of the distillery's 2017 production year, bottled with no dilution.
