Description
Shizuoka 3 Years Old 2018 Cask #1357 is a single cask single malt from Gaiaflow's Shizuoka distillery in Shizuoka prefecture, selected by Scottish independent bottler Blackadder and released for the global market in 2022. Drawn from one of the distillery's 2018 production casks, among the earliest whisky to leave Shizuoka after its 2016 founding, it was bottled at just 3 years of age at the raw cask strength.
At 61.1%, this is one of the highest-strength releases in the batch, and with cask detail not available the character falls squarely on Shizuoka's new make personality: the cedar washback freshness, clean cereal energy and light fruit brightness that the distillery built its reputation on. The Ex-Bourbon maturation will have begun the process of softening and sweetening the spirit, but at three years the new make is still very much the driving force, making this a direct, uncompromising document of Shizuoka's earliest vintage.
